Ohio Equal Rights Condemns House Passage of HB 249

Ohio Equal Rights is extremely saddened and frustrated by the passing of HB 249.

HB 249 restricts drag performances to adult-only venues, making it a crime to dress differently from your sex assigned at birth in any space where minors may be present.

This bill is designed to discriminate against transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. It’s the exact kind of discrimination Ohio Equal Rights is trying to prevent with our proposed amendments.

Trans and gender non-conforming Ohioans deserve to exist in peace, free from policing and discrimination.
