Ohio Equal Rights officially launched its statewide signature collection campaign Wednesday, aiming to place two proposed constitutional amendments on the November 2026 ballot.
The grassroots organization is pursuing an equal rights amendment and a separate measure addressing marriage rights after the Ohio Ballot Board split their original proposal.
"We have seen defunding of educational initiatives. We have seen stripping of protections for students with disabilities. We have seen so many losses," said Lis Regula, co-chair of Ohio Equal Rights. "That something like this, putting it in writing in Ohio's constitution that discrimination is not OK, that is a big deal."
